My Story: so sorry my English is not perfect I hope you understand me?!
I am from Germany and in 2002 I met my first greyhound.
He was from the last closed racetrack in Italy and was in a shelter in Germany. His name was Teseo (Teseo della Capitale).
The beginning of a very deep love to greyhounds. But Teseo was so sad an scared and unlucky ... now we know he was unlucky with us. He was the first time alone ....He missed other greyhounds. But eight weeks later we adopted Zama (Teresas Hope). A female from the same track. And Teseo was so happy! He changed in a lucky and wonderful boy.
At first we hate everything about racetracks. We heard from rescue groups so terrible things about this. This was a very bad area and all people are bad. But we met other greyhound owners in our town and we talked about everything ... and about the racetrack too. They told us so much other stories about the dogs and the people and we changed our opinion. And one year later we visit the first time a racetrack.
And so began a new story ... our first greyhounds died in 2009 in cancer ... but since this time other greyhounds and galgos found the way in our house and hearts.
We learn so much about greyhounds. I started in 2011 a greyhound online forum to told other greyhound lovers in Germany about the greyhounds. We translate many many wonderful stories from English to German because so many information only in English and so less people understand English. And this forum and now our greyhound group in FB are a big help for so many people.
Now we worked since 12 years on the racetrack and we have so much fun with our dogs and with all the people with the same hobby. We have two active greyhounds Maya and Sanyi (Szaguldo Maya and Fly Obsession Apollo from Hungaria) and a young greyhound (Boa from Germany) who go to the track end of this year. And Velvet (Tiffanys Hope from England) now 9 years old. Our Boss Flash (Elbony Flashing) passed away on 7th may this year in a heart cancer. Now Iknow much more than in 2002 but I learn continue from you in the English and American groups ... from all the people who work with this wonderful breed. We can learn so many useful things but we must learn to listen and to understand.
So this is my story about the change from a racetrack hater in a racetrack supporter.
